Trial excerpt

A figure sat alone in a dark room flexing his robotic arm. One could only tell it was due to the mechanic sound it barely made as it was moved. The figure sat muttering to himself, rocking back and forth slightly and shaking his head every now and then.
"You're mine now," a man he'd hated for so long mocked him.
"No."
"They don't care about you anymore."
"No!"
"As a matter of fact: they NEVER cared about you."
"NO!"
"What have they EVER done for you?"
"They're my friends," he whispered.
"FRIENDS?!" The man laughed bitterly. "Where are your 'friends'? Hmmm? Where were they when you gave yourself up for them? Did they stay to try to help you? How about now? They're not even trying for you. What was the last thing you heard from them?"
"They're trying!" the figure yelled, more at himself than his taunter. "They're not gonna leave me here!"
"If you want to get your hopes crushed, go ahead and keep on believing that. But don't blame me when they never come."
The figure cringed against the wall as if in unspeakable pain. "They're not gonna leave me here," the figure whispered to himself, his arms wrapped around his chest.
A heavy door opened and another figure appeared. "Sonic?" the second figure called. The figure sitting down looked up to see a blue, roboticized hedgehog about his height staring at him.
"Yeah?" Sonic assured quietly.
"What are you doing down here, son?" Jules inquired.
"Oh, uh nothing really. Just...chilling. Taking it easy." He got up and walked towards the robot.
"Robotnik needs you for something...he wants to see you." Sonic grimaced at the name, but trudged out the door anyway. "Sonic, are you alright?"
"Yeh, I'm fine Dad," Sonic said vacantly.
"Are you s-?"
"I SAID I'M FINE! DAD!" Sonic growled and kicked a wall which echoed through the corridors with a metal-on-metal sound. Sonic closed his eyes and hung his head as he muttered a barely audible apology to Jules. He walked quickly away to Robotnik's office leaving Jules standing alone.
Guys he thought, if you want to save your friend.....you need to do it now. He shook his head and followed his son to the most hated person in all of Mobius.
